While reading Time Magazine on my flight home from D.C., I came across an interesting article
about trying to get parents to focus on math with their kids as much as they
focus on reading a bedtime story nightly. The article really sparked my
interest and so I thought I would share.
The website, Bedtime Math, creates a math problem/story
every day along with questions for multiple levels of math readiness
(Wee-Ones, Little-Kids and Big-Kids). They do a good job of
making the problems/stories interesting, short, relevant and fun. I thought some
of you might appreciate this as parents of middle schoolers and possibly younger ones. The big-kid questions are good mental math practice for your kids, include some interesting facts and could make talking about math a little more natural for your family. This could even been something that your middle schooler does with a younger sibling to benefit them both. Here is a brief flyer explaining the website and how to use Bedtime Math. Enjoy!
